Done and Done. Two Lifetime Dreams in Three Months
ANOTHER Blog about Handsome Hubby
It’s been quite a run. In just three months, I’ve accomplished two, count them, two lifetime dreams — seeing the Northern Lights AND traveling to The Netherlands. And it’s all thanks to you know who — Handsome Hubby. That’s why I’m writing ANOTHER blog in praise of HH.
Yes, I know, I know. It’s disgraceful. I keep saying nice things about my husband. It’s not even his birthday or our anniversary or Valentine’s Day. I just cannot help it. The man’s a peach!
Two Lifetime Dreams and A Dream Husband
Honestly, HH deserves the praise. To keep this short and not too mushy, it’s early into the year and the man’s already clearly outdone himself.
Northern Lights Delight
In February, he took me to see the Northern Lights. I’ve written about that trip previously, so you know this long-held dream was tied not only to seeing the famed Aurora Borealis for their own glory but also as a sort of spiritual reconnecting with my father who had witnessed them during WWII in Newfoundland.
Then, last month, HH orchestrated a grand European tour for us. Now, I’ve been lucky to study, work, and travel abroad, so I’m no Euro-newby BUT I’d never been to The Netherlands was special. It’s held a special enchantment for me since childhood.
Hans Brinker and Vincent G
Blame my love of Holland on the book, Hans Brinker, or The Silver Skates. This tale of 19th-century Dutch life with its frozen canals, wooden shoes, and windmills instilled a fascination that stuck with me forever.
Throw in my love of Vincent Van Gogh and my desire to see the Vincent Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam which contains the world’s largest collection of the artist’s paintings and drawings … Well, you get why I yearned to visit the Netherlands.
We were set to go there right when COVID-19 struck. So, foiled! Trip canceled. But last month we went and as you know from last week’s blog, we not only toured the Van Gogh Museum but also, the Kröller-Müller Museum, which, with some 90 paintings and more than 180 drawings, boasts the second largest Van Gogh collection in the world.
Praising Handsome Hubby Some More!
All these Van Goghs were a feast for the eyes, but truly the effort that HH put into planning the entire trip was the real treat. Every detail was extravagant, thoughtful, intellectual, fun, and romantic,
Like I said, the man is a peach. A keeper.
There! I’m done!
I won’t say anything else nice about him until the next time which, knowing him, could be any minute!
