A Second National Award

Medical Ageism Story Gets National Notice

Second National Award

I’m proud to share some great professional news. My Matzo Chronicles column has just been recognized — for the second time — with a writing award from the National Federation of Press Women (NFPW).

The NFPW gave its nod of approval to my story, “Medical Ageism: You Don’t Have to Live with It,” which detailed my maddening experience with two ageist doctors (partners) who focused on my age instead of my malady.

The Matzo Chronicles is published online and in newspapers in eight states. It offers my reflections about family, friendship, food, and modern life.

More About the Award

The NFPW is an organization of women and men with careers in print and electronic journalism, freelancing, new media, books, public relations, marketing, graphic design, photography, advertising, radio, and television.

This year, judges evaluated nearly 2,000 entries across a wide range of categories. All entries were published or broadcast between Jan. 1 and December 31, 2025. The award ceremony was last weekend in Maryland.

My thanks to the NFPW judges and staff. I’d also like to thank my editors and my readers, who laugh, cry, and occasionally grimace along with my adventures.
